Daniel and Samuel Sizer bought 80 acres of land for $1.25 per acre in 1869. Adjusted for inflation, that is roughly $17.33 per acre for a present day cost of $1386.40. That land, which is what we now call La Jolla, is worth (conservatively) $1.25 million an acre. The total? $100,000,000.00.

  • Mount Soledad offers the most inspiring views in San Diego. The highest peak west of Cowles Mountain in the San Carlos/ La Mesa area, this La Jolla spot is one of those places in our backyard, that, even though we may drive by it on the 5 going to and from work, even drive around it from Pacific Beach to La Jolla, can often go forgotten or left alone without visiting.
Getting to the top of Mount Soledad does wonders to clear the daily stresses from our minds. Take this as a reminder to take advantage of the many natural treasures offered in our own backyard.

Due in large part to the shortgage of housing and the subsequent run-up in housing costs, builders have apparently decided to search out new land for homes. When most of the prime land is already built (try finding new oceanfront sites in La Jolla or Del Mar) one needs to conquer new frontiers. It seems as though the industries ultra-progressive have indeed conquered.
When it is time to shop for your new home- the local MLS won't cut it. You'll need somethinng a little further reaching...

IMO- good, but at times not the most accurate.

  • New "round abouts" in installed in La Jolla Blvd in connection with the Sea Haus development project will take some time for drivers to get used to. The yield for oncoming traffic, seemingly very unnatural around these parts but fitting to the European style and image of the development have some motorists confused on who has the right of way. It will be of benefit to residents in the Sun Gold Point and Birdrock areas, most notably residents and their visitors of Sea Haus itself, to make quick U-turns, have the flow of traffic continue and make ingress and egress all together more possible. It will be interesting, however, to see if during the drivers learning curve, there aren't a rise in insurance claims...
